Privacy and cookies
Last updated 12 October 2026
gdansk.is is a guide to Gdańsk for travellers from Iceland, run in partnership with Eastland Events. This page explains what data is generated when you visit the site and how it is used.
What we collect
The site has no login, forms or mailing list, and we do not collect any personal data about visitors ourselves. If you send us an email, we use your email address solely to reply to your enquiry.
Visit statistics
We count visits to see which content is useful. This is done without cookies and without storing IP addresses: we record which page was viewed, which site the visitor came from, the type of device and the browser language. The data is aggregated and cannot be traced to individuals.
Third-party services
For the site to work, your browser fetches content from the following parties, who then see your IP address, as with any visit to a website:
- Firebase Hosting (Google) — hosts the site and keeps standard access logs.
- Open-Meteo — the weather in Gdańsk.
- Frankfurter — the exchange rate of the złoty against the Icelandic króna.
- OpenStreetMap and unpkg — the map and the mapping software (Leaflet).
Links to Google Maps and other websites open on the site in question, where its own terms apply.
Advertising and cookies
The site is funded by advertising. Offers from partners in Gdańsk are published directly by us and use no cookies.
Ads from Google AdSense may also appear on the site. In that case the following applies:
- Third parties, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of cookies from other advertising vendors at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area are asked for consent before advertising cookies are used and can change their choice at any time.

Your rights
You have the right to be informed about the processing of personal data about you, and to have it corrected or erased, under the Icelandic Data Protection Act (Act No. 90/2018) and the GDPR. You can also contact the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, personuvernd.is.
